Steve, from Steve,

This condition is absolutely normal. The engine compartment is hot, and
during the night the volatile gasoline evaporates from the small float bowls.

That's why the SU pump (or any other electric) fills up the empty bowls
until the "clicking" stops.  That is when you should try starting it.

Don't think you really have a problem, if it's running good after starting.
