A neat trick for installing the timing tape is to lie on the ground under the damper. It's then easy to see and sand the original timing marks. Once everything is clean (free of oil) match the timing tape to the marks and you're done. I cut the tape using only about 1/4. I figure I'll never need that part of the tape.
