Following up on Steve's comments....
Remember that the structural components were marginal in the Tiger with the
260. Increased horsepower/torque require careful planning as to not, how
should I put it, bending things. On most Tigers you can look across the sill
just in front of the windshield and see deformations that can be associated
with chassis flex.
Five bolt 289's while requiring a bit of looking can be found at reasonable
prices if you choose to do a transplant. This being the most straight forward
of the engine swaps.
It all comes down to originality vs. performance vs. money
