The Ridgid tool certainly looks burly compared to the other ones. Most of
the cheap flare tools are knockoffs of the snap-on tool, and a few thou of
pinch on the pipes and the surface finish of the clamp can make a big
difference on whether or not the flare will succeed. "Looks like the
Snap-On" isn't good enough in this case, just like with the click-type
adjustable torque wrenches. About half of the cheap ones have a huge
variability in the torque required to 'click' the wrench depending on how
much off-axis load is on the wrench.
