I'm shocked! After all of the modifaction technical briefings
you have given us, I 'm shocked to find that you drive on tires which
have long since past that "Bologna Skin" look. Exposed threads, cables,
or steel belts means that these tires about about to BURST. One sharp
rock, small piece of glass or scrubing a curb, and BOOM!, lumpety
lumpety lumpety. Now I realize the your 351 Cleveland may be a tad hard
on the tires of your 2,400 pound car, but give them a break, and allow
them to be recapped.!
I know my Alpine handled much better as the tread was going away
from my old BR-60-13 T/A's but that was absolutlely in the dry only.
Even my old and very tired 1592 Alpine could spin the T/A's in all four
gears for at least a block before they would start to heat up. These
were the origianl style T/A's which were revised for this very reason,
poor wet gripping.
Rich
(ps I also found that it handled the best with 42lbs in the front and
38lbs in the rear. It did tend to eat the center out of the tread after
about 8,000 miles. They only lasted me for 12,000.)
