All this thread about Tiger Ties got my mouth watering for one. So,
when I saw 2 different ones on sale at a Tie Kiosk in the The Oaks Mall,
in Thousand Oaks, I couldn't resist.
Firstly, these are real Tiger ties (4 legs not 4 wheels). They are 100%
silk, adn come in two designs. They are made by Wemco, 966 S. White
St., New Orleans, LA 70125 (504-822-3700). They are from their
"Endangered Species" collection and a portion of their profits are
donated to endangered species groups.
One is called "EXTINCT BALI TIGER C. 1937". The tie is a black on black
brocade with a single tiger walking ahead of a bamboo grove and
waterfall background.
The other is simply called "TIGER MAMMAL". There are tigers in various
activities including play fighting cubs,paw licking adult, and standing
tiger. The pattern, like wall paper, gives a different slice of the
repetition along th tie length. These tigers are more tan than orange
with black stripes. Ste bacjground is silver-grey fern patterns and is
a good deal less intense than the black-on black of the Extinct Bali.
They were $17.50 each, or 2 for $25 (plus tax). The Extinct was on
special at two for $10, or $7.50 ea. Same quality and materials, just
closing out the Extinct, I guess.
Owner said could get ties made if he were suppplied the artwork and a
minimum 455 order quantity at about $8/ea. in silk.
