Greetings, All:
I recently came across a medalian from a Sunbeam Tiger that I would like to
know more about. The Tiger that it is from was delivered from the dealer
with eight Webers. Does anyone know of a dealer on the east coast that did
that kind of work? The owner lived in Connecticut (I do not have his name).
Anyway, the medalian is of heavy steel in the form of a shield and has a
raised design. It measures approximately 2-3/4 (at its widest point) by
3-1/4 inches (lower tip to top of shield). The B A R C lettering is
yellow, as is a banner across the bottom third that reads "British Automobile
Racing Club" (the letters are bright steel on the yellow banner). The
background color is light blue. The most prominent elements, in the upper
two-thirds, are a red standing lion on a black/white checkered flag
background.
Is this club still around? What are/were they involved with? Did members
only own these medalians or could anyone have obtained one? If they were for
members only, what did they signify?
Thanks for any help you can give.
