Ok, so my tongue was somewhat in my cheek when I posted the note
yesterday about the dual fuel pumps, but it's not as crazy as some
thought.
First, I did mean to mount the pumps in series, with the outlet of
one feeding directly into the inlet of the second. Only one would be
powered at a time.
Both the types of pumps mentioned do not have mechanically driven
valves, rather, the flow of the fuel opens and closes these check
valves. If unpowered, fuel should flow through them in the right
direction. Yes, there might be a little more restriction on flow from
the unpowered pump, but that might not be significant.
If they were in parallel, and the check valves in one were to get
stuck open because of debris, or broke, then you would get backflow
when the other pump operated.
I probably won't do it, but it's something to consider for the truly
paranoid.
