The MGCars.org BBS has a question on it that some of you might have an
answer to...
"I was asked a question yesterday evening that I could not fully answer and
wonder if anyone here can shed some light on this.
Today, we fit various engine and chassis tuning parts, but when (with
photographic evidence) did anyone first use a Panhard Rod on a semi eliptic
sprung Midget or Sprite in competition?
I am particularly interested in cars prior to 1968 using this type of rear
axle location."
It sounds to me as if someone is looking for evidence to support a panhard
rod as "period correct" for some vintage class. Not exactly the sort of shot
that generally makes it into most magazines... unless the car was rolling
over at the time ;-) I imagine that if they were in common use on period
Bugeyes, someone would have kept on using them with the semi-elliptics, but
you never know. Anybody got any "photographic evidence"?
