I use 2 or 3 for things like hanging fenders and other items that do
not undergo much stress. I use the 5's for suspension geometry bits.
Just put a pair grade 5 bolts on a bike center stand. They were $9
each but well worth it for the looks and durability they provide as
opposed to $2.50 for standar cad plated. I use ferrous cad or nickel
plated grade 8 for engine and tranny applications and for things like
suspension pivots where the stresses are largest.

Can't buy that. You bust a bolt on your suspension on a car at 60 mph
and you'll do some fancy skidding to the side of the road... *maybe*
something a little worse. Do the same on a motorcycle wheel or swing
arm, frame, engine or tranny mount, etc and you're in for a wrestling
match with 500 to 600 pounds of tumbling steel at 60 mph across the
concrete or asphalt with the possibility of tumbling or skidding
across the centerline and intercepting a car or truck bumper or into
the roadside curbstone with your nearly naked body. How many
motorcycle crashes have you been in?

Just depends on the individual's choice then.... Most bike people
prefer shiny and durable stainless steel for as many exposed nuts and
bolts as they can do safely. They'll pay the extra without complaint.
