Hi Ron,

Sounds like what you had was a 1098 2" main backing plate.  There are three
thick backing plates.

1098 1 3/4"
1098 2"
1275    All

The 1098 plates have the 4 inch hole but in the same location as do the thin
948 ones.  You just needed a 1275 plate!

Now you have a 1275 one, custom made!
