Can the carb side of the intake manifold be opened up larger than the
port on the head?  If so, then it should work, in theory.
Has anyone ever tried to open a factory log manifold up as much as
possible and put sleeves in it?  You could drill small holes in the
sleeves for vacuum takeoff in the middle of the manifold.  It might
improve the flow of that manifold while looking stock on the exterior.
