Modern cars have all been very carefully computer-engineered, but for what?
Survivablility in real-world crashes? Heck, no! It is just like computer
benchmarking, they have all been designed to pass government tests. Yes,
they are very survivable as long as you plan your accidents to comply with
government crash tests. The vehicle which so nicely passes a 35mph crash
test by crumpling to absorb the impact, when faced with a real-world 50mph
crash, continues to crumple right through whoever is in the front seat. No
thank you!
In case you haven't noticed, Spridgets DO have a "crumple zone". Those two
"frame rails" always crumple and absorb impact in a crash (unless you get
rear-ended, I suppose). It will literally give its life for you. What more
do you want? Sure the crash test data looks bad, but it sure is a lot more
survivable than a crotch-rocket.

P.S. My kids did not get LBCs as first cars because I knew that first cars
have a hard life and I did not want the heartache of seeing an LBC
destroyed.
