If I remember correctly my '63 used pop rivets.  The car was unrestored
when I picked it up.

They were pop riveted on any original car I disassembled.
But I use 6/32s with nylocs on reassembly because the pop rivets loosen 
up and the turn buckle starts to wiggle and marr the paint. Mine ain't
concours though, just practical.
