I'm getting close enough to having mid-gette bardaux finished that I've
actually made a list of remaining tasks. One was to fill the cooling system
and,
as I'm getting old enough to remember occassionally something I learned from
screwing up before, i filled it with water to check for leaks first. Got one I
didn't expect. Though it was tight, the water neck leaked like a bastard. I
have a thermostat in, which sits (1500 engine) in a little inset ridge on the
lower piece, then the gasket that came with the thermostat, then the water
neck, held with two bolts. It leaked SO profusely it makes me think there's no
hope of tightening my way out of it, something is in wrong/missing? If not, I
plan to gob everything with weatherstrip adhesive and try again. Thoughts?
the mating surfaces look good, maybe the gasket is too thin? Thermostat is
pointy side up.
