Lester,

Remove the tank, empty all gas, allow to dry in the sun for a bit while you
stoke up a big load of coals in the BBQ. Remove the sending unit and then
plug up the hole with a blank plate, wooden bung, or just jam a wad of
plastic craft clay into the hole. Likewise, plug up the fuel outlet. Flush
out the tank with water until you don't smell gas anymore and then fill up
the tank with water and set it on the barbie!
No turning or basting required, cook until coals die down and water cools
enough not to burn your feet when you spill it all over as you grab the too
hot tank off the grill. Dry it out, slosh in the tank coating of choice ( I
go naked on mine) and refitment is the reverse of removal.
