Here again, Chris...
Not abnormal with hairier cams.
The hairier cams have low vacuum in
the lower rpm ranges. The fuel/air is
available immediately but the engine
cannot efficiently use all that is there
at that particular point in time and rpm.
Engines breath in "pulses". These are
more pronounced in the lower rpm ranges
with hairier cams until the engine comes
up on the cam and more of a "flow thru" is
established.
Which is why the hairy cam idles
"roughly" or sounds "lopey"...you're
hearing "pulses"! :):)
