I tried a few other needles, but had the most success with a customized
needle. I filed a flat on the needle to produce different amounts of fuel
flow at different throttle openings. You need an exhaust gas analyzer, a
method to determine needle rise height, and some fairly long stretches of
level road or access to a dyno to do this properly.
Mods to the dual set up include smoothing the internals, squaring the
throat, profiling the throttle shafts, thinning the butterflies, adding a
radius to the leading edge of the dashpot to eliminate the obstruction,
overboring the jets, and adding a radius to the throat entry.
