Chris,
Can you get another lifter just like the ones you installed? If so, stand
it on the table next to one of your old ones and stand a wooden match in
each one and see if the exposed top of the matches are even. It may be that
even if the lifters have the same external dimensions, the seat within the
lifter is at a different depth than your originals.

> I just measured the gap tonight (brought a caliper home from work). Max
gap is about .185, and all 8 seem to have the gap. Measuring the height of
the adjuster sticking out of the nut gives about .225 or so - not enough
meat left if I adjust all the way, and probably not enough threads to adjust
this far anyway.
