The choke cable retaining strap was actually a rubber affair made by John Bull.
It is shaped in an hourglass shape with a hole in the top and a 90 degree tab at
the bottom that slips through the hole to form a loop. Exact reproductions of
these John Bull straps are available from Clarkes Spares in PA. They are made
of
a superior material to the original rubber. I think they are relatively cheap
also. They were looped around the choke cable and one of the clips on the side
of the heater box.
