Ed A., that would be a PERFECT and CORRECT statement IF everyone mounted
their exhaust system correctly. I would wager MOST do not. When that is the
cast there is SERIOUS torque applied to said manifold with the result of
breakage.
'Course it IS easy enough to not spend the $$s on "correct" mounts and save a
few $$s bu purchasing "universal" mounts at Pep Boys, AutoZone, etc..
In the long run, huum me thinks manifolds are EXPENSIVE and quite (trial and
error) a PITA to "fix".
