948cc engine modifications

I have a '59' Bugeye, with a 948cc engine, I am in the process of restoring. 
Can anyone tell me what is the max oversize bore I can go to without 
compromising integrity of the block? I would like to take it to 2.543 
inches, the standard bore for the 1098cc, but that is .065 over stock and I 
don't know if the block can take that much. I would appreciate any advise on 
the subject.
