Gearbox S/N Location?

Anyone know where the serial number is on a Midget 1500/Marina gearbox? I 
can't find a specific reference as to the location although I can find 
references to 5 digit serial numbers starting with 5 or 6. The only numbers I 
have found on the one I removed from the Growler yesterday are casting 
numbers on the gear case.
