Dear Listers,

About time I provided an update on the questions I've been getting such
great advice on.

I took the car into the alignment specialist. He wasn't all that
knowledgable about the MG in particular, but he was very courteous and said
he'd take a look to see if anything obvious is wrong. He didn't see any
evidence of bent bodies or a-arms, but he didn't put it on the machine and
take accurate readings like we discussed. I still need to do that. He did
say that he took the wheels off and inspected the work on the front end and
pronounced it safe even though the current problem is going to ruin my
tires prematurely.

So I still want to take it somewhere. Anyone in the northern NJ area have
a suggestion as to an alignment/body shop that is good and will confidently
and competently look at my car? This coming week I intend calling Rob
Medynski in W. Milford and Doug's MG in Howell. I'm just not sure they are
the right body inspection folks though I freely acknowledge Rob as a
genius. :)

Called Motorhead on the above problem and the reversing lamp switch issue.
Said I may have tightened the switch too much and that may cause a problem.
I'll investigate that, but they said if it doesn't work then, they'll send
me another switch as this one could be defective. Gotta love the service.
As my two bits on the Home Depot/Chain store vs. small operators, I'll say
that my first call goes to Motorhead. If they are twice as much for the
"same" part I will likely buy elsewhere, but I will pay a bit more for
courteous, knowledgable service.

The good news is that I am emminently drivable at this stage. I've put
over 150 miles on the car since pronounced safe for driving. Around town,
cruising at 65 mph on the Garden State Parkway, up long steep grades near
Ringwood, NJ - all handled without a hitch. Gods I love driving this car!

Thanks for helping make it happen!
Philip
