After reading all the discussion about transmission lubricants, I decided to check the factory manual (reprints) that I have, and have the following caveat to report (MIDGET 1500 OWNERS, LISTEN UP!). While various LBC manuals may recommend engine oils for use in transmissions of specific cars, those of us with 1500 Midgets should use 80 or 90 wt gear lube in our transmissions. That's what was specified by the manufacturer, and the engine and transmission specifications that apply to other generations of Midgets do not apply to the 1500. Hoping to save someone some trouble... Chris Kotting ckotting@iwaynet.net |
