For those of you following the various threads on what oil to put into your
transmission, you may want to stick to the suggested 20w50 motor oil. I
have been using Durablend 75w140 semi-synthetic gear oil for about 8 months
without problem. Shifts were just as easy (and in fact better for reverse),
and the gearbox sounded quieter. However, because of the recent discussion
on mgs@autox stating that sulphur compounds might corrode copper
synchromeshs, I wrote Valvoline, and here is their respsone:

So, it would appear that Valvoline does not suggest the use of Durablend in
our transmissions.
