On my 1275, the oil sending unit screws in the block
kinda behind the distributor. It's a thin tube with a
fitting that screws into the block between the oil 
pressure relief valve and the pipe that runs from the
block into the oil filter housing.

My 1275 does not have an electrical connection on top
of the oil filter.
