Are there any pictures on the web of each, close enough and with enough
focus that I/we could compare them and see the difference?
In lieu of pictures, are you talking about carpet that might be described as
looking a bit like rows of tightly braided hair, versus what we call over
here a "brush cut" where the hair is all pointing up at a length of around
1/4 inch? No, I'm not a hairdresser...nor am I dating one... not that
there's anything wrong...in fact one of my good friends.... Oh never mind,
make the hairdresser jokes if you must!

It's quite unlike the original carpet in appearance, and yes, certainly too
modern looking to my eye. I'm not knocking it, there's no doubt it's streets
ahead of anything else available (in the UK at least, I don't get to see
what's made in the US!). You simply have to accept it's limitations, or find
your own solution,
