Just a comment FWIW. It's clear to me in the UK that the US and Europe
generally have different methods for calculating octane. We use RM for
'research method, whereas I think you guys in the US have a comparable fuel,
though the octane is measured differently?

I was taken for a ride in one of the last US spec Spitfires less than a
month ago that had been re-imported to the UK. Only done 7000 miles since
new!!!! It still had all the energy sapping features in place and even
though it was set-up 'as original' - there was just no way it would do more
than 60mph. I had heard later Spits were *equally matched* to lawnmowers in
performance - but this car was so slow and gutless it was hard to believe
anyone would want to buy one that was this slow. I'm not slagging off Spits
in any way - but this example was SO disappointing.
