Heat shield on a GT6?

My son is having some issues with his '72 GT6.  Starts great, runs great -
until it gets warm.  Then it gives the classic vapor lock symptoms.  We've
been through the carbs, replaced the fuel filter, and the fuel pump.  The
fuel lines appear to be routed correctly.  So here is the question: Should
there be a heat shield on the GT6?  I've never seen one, but that doesn't
mean much.  I need the collective wisdom of the lists.  TIA.
