Thanks! That is reassuring news about the diff. What a relief! It will
get a drain and fill this weekend so we can see if anything ugly comes out.
I have a spare diff but it has the telltale sign of someone being inside of
it who shouldn't have... a smear of permatex around the perimeter of the
gasket. I have done that to a few VW motors myself. What should I expect
to pay if I sent this out for a rebuild?
