oil pump question

Made a little mistake, took apart oil pump and didn't
look how it came out. Just noticed that the internal
cylinder has a flat edge on one end and a small
bezeled edge on the other end of it. Now I don't know
which end goes in the case first, beveled edge or flat
edge. Any help would be appreciated.........
