Greg,
we use a product called "Release it" by Dominion Sure Seal. It releases
weather-strips,  vinyl tops, moldings, it claims it will not damage paints. It
worked very well for us. It will evaporate very quickly and leaves no traces.
It's also very good product to remove windshields.
