James,

Well, someone has done this. Jeff McNeal (still an occasional contributor
to this list) saw many of the shortcomings of the system here, and set up
instead the Totally Triumph Network (www.totallytriumph.net). Here
everything is divided up first by car (it covers all Triumphs, although
there are more Spitfire owners than anyone else), then by subject, then
individual threads, with dedicated areas for the less technical waffling.

It's pretty good, and to Jeff's credit it has gone from nothing to probably
as much traffic as this site in a year and a half or so - so he must be
doing something right.

When Jeff set it up I was already a regular contributor to this group, and
had many 'virtual friends' (as well as a few I have met in person), so I
stayed here as well as joining his group.

However, unless everyone here decides simultaneously to leap to Jeff's site
(which I guess is unlikely to happen) that doesn't really solve the archive
problem we have here! But if Mark will just sign us up to www.escribe.com
or something similar, at least we will have something! Go on Mark, I'm
asking nicely!
