Hi Doug
I think you have two systems added together, the earlier twin SU's had
tension springs going back to the manifold to close the throttles, the later
twin SU's had rotary springs round the spindles to close the throttles,
sounds like yours has both types fitted, this may make your throttle heavier
than it needs to be.
