Does anyone out there know if a 1500 crank will fit
a '71 1300 block? My project car seems to have had a
rough life (along with 2 wiped rod bearings). I know
where i can pick up a parts car for less than it would
cost for a new crank or re-grinding mine (the parts
car has a cracked block, I am hoping the internals are
still good). I spoke with a guy at Team Triumph a few
days ago, and he said the journals were the same size,
but he thought there would be clearance problems.
With the longer stroke, would I have to use later 1500
pistons (the rods are the same in all my catalogs, so
the pistons must be shorter)? Is side clearance (to
the oil pan rails) a problem? Are the oil pans the
same? I know the oil pump pickup design was changed.
Any suggestions out there? I'm trying to do this
as low buck as possible.

Thanks

Tim
