I broke down and ripped the dash out of my car. (I had
to do too much customization on it and I needed to
know where the metal openings are in the dash-frame
for the placement of extra gauges and toggles.)

Even though I know it's going to be a hassle everytime
I want to get back there, but I want a solid one piece
dash.

But the guide-lines you layed out, Fred, are
definately going to be helpful when I'm cutting.

The only thing I'm not clear on is how you did the
1/8" recesses around the gauge holes. I can't seem to
find a 1/8" straight cutter with a bearing on it to
make this square shoulder cut. I was hoping that I
could find a router bit that would do a 1/8" shoulder
cut, but can't seem to find such an animal. Can you
clarify how you did this?

And although I'm not sure how it will work out, I
found a 2" hole saw, which I'm going to use for the
smaller gauge cut-outs.

I get the feeling I should have bought a few extra
pieces of plywood just in case this doesn't go well.
But I'll keep a lay-out of my cutting template and try
to get photos so in case someone else does this, they
don't have to deal with down-time and running in and
out of the house for re-measureing on their car. (It's
too cold to drive the spit w/out a heater anyhow).
