Ken, the 76 had the higher compression 9:1 (I have a 76 and I belive it has the
flat top pistons), so maybe you just need to swap pistons. I thought the heads
were the same. Only ever seen the one head in the catalogues but lots of
pistons for the various compressions.
Maybe you could look for a 76 engine/parts.

afaik, simple flat tops should do it. the combustion chamber size is
uniform for all the heads.

Subject: 1500 Cylinder head
Spitlisters,
I have read or heard that the USA 1500cc cylinder head is 'deeper', and,
along with dished pistons, typically yields 7.5 to 1 compression. If flat
top pistons were used, any idea how much the head have to be milled in order
to bring everything up to 9.0 to 1 ? Would shorter push rods be needed ?
