Check your wiring carefully! On the 1972 Spitfire, the seat belt warning
light/buzzer is wired through a switch (there are two switches) - on the top
of the transmission case. It looks like the same switch used to activate
the reverse lights. This was so the warning buzzer was activated if someone
was sitting in either seat, without securing the seatbelt, and you shifted
in to gear. Also, if the rest of your wiring is connected properly, you may
have 12V present at the wires going to the seat switches. I found that out
by accidentally pinching the wires under one seat when I bolted the seat
slides back in and was continually blowing a fuse. I traced out the wires
and disconnected them from the switch on the transmission - problem solved!
I did not plan to use that infernal buzzer system anyway!
