I've got a late model Spitfire, with a "safety" dodad that I cannot
figure out. It looks for all the world like part of a seat belt buckle,
and is fastened body about 8" forward of shoulder harness swivel. It's
shown in many of the parts catalogs, listed vaguely as a safety item,
and is not available anywhere. It gets the same vague mention in the
Bentley manual, and isn't mentioned at all in the owners manual.
It can't hold a seat belt because it can't latch in any way at all. It
doesn't match up with anything to do with a hard top or soft top. And
its got to do with a baby seat, why is there one on both sides?
Does anyone know what the heck these things really are and why they are
there?
