It's always a good idea to know roughly the value of anything that you are bidding on. I was involved with more traditional auctions (i.e. in person) for years, & "auction fever" is very real. In fact, it is often counted on to raise the sale price of the entire estate/lot! I've seen situations where an individual bid $375 for a color TV, while the original price tag of $295 was still affixed to it. I guess P.T. Barnum was right!
