Okay! We have a name!
I had a thought yesterday, wrote it all down, and my computer crashed as
I was trying to send it. Sigh. So here it is again:
The SCCA Solo II program has their National autocross meet in Topeka, KS
each year at Forbes Field, a working AFB (perfect for the Squadron!),
since it is reasonably centrally located in the US. It runs in the
middle of September for two weekends and the week in between. Last year
there were several competing Spitfires there (5 or 6), and next year
hopefully more, including mine! How about trying to attach a NASS
get-together to this event? There is camping/RVing space and possible
tarmac available at the far end of the paddock area for showing cars,
etc. (If not available, the camping area has plenty of room on a flat
grassy area.) I can approach the SCCA about it, if anyone is
interested. During the week they run two courses, and the action is
hot. Planes take off and land right next to the courses -- mostly
bombers but there were several fighters and one AWACS plane (I got a
great picture of it over the trailer). They have a neat museum there as
well. Anyone seriously interested?
Keep Triumphing,
Brigadier Specific Hensley :)
