Claes,I agree with Joe on this.

RD is definitely listed as a Dolomite 1300 engine - according to the following
page :- http://spitfire.amicale.com/serial2.htm
which was a link from the Dolomite home page at:-
http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/healey/405/dolomite.html

  Dear All,

The engine number is definitly RD8486E and have a singel Stromberg
(standard on the that engine?). I have checked the engine number again
to be sure. Howerver there have been no one able to respond to my
  questions:

  year: ?
  bhp:
  torque: ?

Any one who knows where I can dig for some answers?

  Best Regards,

  Claes

Claes,
RD identifies a 1296 cc Dolomite engine. The setup was originally front
wheel drive.

On the other hand if the number is actually FD8486E (F's sometimes are
struck so lightly that may appear to be a P or R) it would be a 1296
Spitfire engine.

The engines would be virtually the same internally and only the external
pieces would be different.

I don't have data on the Dolomite year models because they were not
imported into the US. I'm sure someone will come up with that for you.

Regards,
Joe Curry

P.S. advantages are numerous: Larger displacement, 8 port head, etc.
