A lot of people are passive and will follow a leader like sheep. If you take the
initiative, you may be surprised how people will join in. Just stand up at the
next meeting and tell them you will be organizing an activity and when all the
details are ready, you will let everyone know. If there is no meeting, just let
a few of the members and officers know.

Don't be discouraged that only a few people show up for the event. It will take
time for everyone to sense the joy of getting together with a common interest.
You also need to remember that every member is an individual and has their own
agenda and private lives to lead. Even though they would like to participate,
they may have other commitments with business and family that take priority.

As the membership grows, so too will the participation. Then the events (car
shows, rallies, tech talks etc.) attract new members so the whole thing can
eventually be self-sustaining.

And all it took, was your initiative to get something started. Then...they
elected you Chairman of Activities. Congratulations!
