True, but it can really weaken the vinyl.  My parents' 17' Boston Whaler
(Ok, so it's not an LBC...) has a beautiful battery-shaped outline on the
vinyl seat (stupid DPO).  Definitely cleaner than the surrounding vinyl;
unfortunately, the "treated" spot has started to disintegrate.
