I have heard that the maximum recomended size for street use on a 1500 is
175.  I suspect thats to do with the fact most 1500 have 4.5 inch rims.  But
also somthing to do with it having big chainges in camber angle at the rear.
Modern lower profile tyers like less camber chainge, you may get some bizzar
scrubbing and wear on the tyers.  I don't know how this would effect the
handleing, but at the cambers you experience on the spits rear.

There was that chap in triumph world with the super Stag who basicl chainged
the rear suspension and transmition to a modern BMW to fit low profile wide
tyers.

Certanly a more effective alternative would be to add a rear anti role bar,
soft rubber bushings, beef up the front antirole bar poly bushings and
chainge the front camber to zero.  You'll mabe need another tunable mod to
get some more oversteer back and to make it nuteral.
