If the rear part of the old harness is still good, there is no reason to
throw it out. It connects to the main harness with a multi pin plug
somewhere on the left side under the dashboard. Just unplug it and connect
it to your new main.
Concerning time, if you know what you are doing (i.e. you have a grasp of
how Lucus thought your Spit should work), you can do it in an afternoon.
