spit speed

i've been well over 100 in a spit down a big hill with the wind... and the
bonnet sorta floated up and down staying at about 4 inches max... i thought
it was cool and maybe even helped air flow. i've had several spits that did
this....  also cars (non lbc) with the hood opening the wrong way.... when
the latch gives out.... the broken windscreen is not a good time especially
at high speed.geo
