hey patrick! your rear brakes are really not that hard to adjust, if that
is what you need. it could be, so here goes:
what you need to do is jack up the back end of the car and support
securely on jack stands. also make sure you block the front wheels from
rolling. place the transmission in nuetral. the adjusters will be
located on the back side (just below the half shaft) of the brake mounting
plate. make sure you have the right size wrench, since you don't want to
strip the square head. then as you turn the wheel, turn the adjuster
screw clockwise to tighten, or counter clockwise to loosen, untill you can
no longer turn the wheel. then slacken of the adjuster one click. after
you get the first side done, repeaat with the other side. when i replaced
my rear brake pads, i had to perform this procedure to get the pads to fit
correctly. then, when i was done, i had nice and tight brakes.
if you have access to a 'haynes' manual for the spitfire, it outlines this
procedure quite well. i don't have it in front of me, but it either
explains it in a little more detail, or about the same.

good luck, and just don't drive _tooo_ fast.
