I've worked out what causes petrol the smell in the boot, there is a tube with a blanking cap on mine, this I think is where you can put an emmission control system. It is blanked off on the UK ones, and the rubber blanking cap has perished so that any fule sloped up soaks into the cap, and evaperates off from there.
